Importing: Picking up from the Port of Entry

To avoid delays with your vehicle pick-up from the port, please provide us with the following documents as soon as possible:

1. Notice of Arrival (NOA)
This will be provided by the shipping line once the vehicle has an expected arrival date or has already arrived at the port of entry. It will be needed to start the customs process.
2. Customs Clearance

This will be provided by your customs agent or broker once the vehicle has been cleared to arrive in Canada.

The NOA will be provided by the shipping line (the company who is shipping the vehicle to the port of entry) when the vehicle has a confirmed arrival date or has arrived at the port of entry. Please send this to us as soon as it is received so that we know when the vehicle is scheduled to arrive. The NOA is also needed to start the customs clearance; it will need to be sent to the customs broker.

Send us the NOA as soon as you receive it, then send it to your customs agent or broker.

We will need the Customs Clearance document once you have received it.

Once the vehicle has been cleared of customs, please send us the Customs Clearance document right away so that we can schedule a pick-up.

Please ensure that all shipping fees are paid as well as the line release fee at the destination port. Any storage fees owing must be paid prior to picking up the vehicle.

Note: We strongly recommend using a customs broker for a smooth and efficient importing/exporting process. To learn more, visit our Customs Broker page here.

You are responsible for the following:

1. All port fees*
Fees include, but are not limited to, line release, storage, and customs processing.
2. Providing the necessary documents
Your shipping representative at MVS Canada will require any documents that are necessary to arrange the pick-up of your vehicle at the port, including, but not limited to, the NOA and Customs Clearance documents.

* Pick-ups done at PSA in Halifax (formerly CERES) have an additional $50 fee payable to PSA before the vehicle can be picked up. The client is responsible for this fee.

* Any delays at the port when the truck arrives to pick up the vehicle will result in additional fees which will be charged at an hourly rate. This will be added to your order’s total cost and will be payable to MVS Canada.

Exporting: Delivering to the Port of Loading

Before arranging to deliver the vehicle to the port of loading, we will need the following:

1. Booking Number
The booking number will be required to prove to the port that the vehicle has been assigned to a ship.
2. Cut-off Date
The last date that the vehicle can be dropped off before it will not be allowed to load the ship that it is assigned to.
3. Ship Name
The name of the vessel that the vehicle is scheduled to be shipped on.
4. Port Address
The address where the vehicle will be delivered to to begin its preparation for loading.

Any delays at the port when the truck arrives to deliver the vehicle will result in additional fees which will be charged at an hourly rate. This will be added to your order’s total cost and will be payable to MVS Canada.
